Cell Life is the first iPhone application published by evilrockhopper. Cell Life is a colourful implementation of John Conway’s Game of Life. It is not a game as such but a mathematical model designed to simulate basic life with the birth and death of cells.

It provides a fascinating and mesmerizing visual experience watching the patterns of cells living, being born and dying. You can also interact by bringing alive individual cells or firing “gliders”, collections of cells that because of their shape glide diagonally across their universe.

To interact, choose touch and drag your finger across the screen to bring cells alive. For gliders, choose the gliders option, and drag in the direction you would like them to start heading. You can also resize the universe size and start / stop the simulation using the controls in the footer.

    Hello Daniel,

I was very happy to find a Life in the app store. Many thanks.
Of course I have additional wishes.
    1. A button.
    2. A button (hm, this one might need a slider to specify density. we may get space problems here.)
    3. The size is restricted to minimal cell size of 3×3. Why? Suggestion: Up to 1×1. Let the processor work!
    4. Currently the color is just, um, there. It may get semantics. E.g. Different colors for a) stable cell (one that existed before [maybe: and will exist in the next generation]) b) new cell [maybe: b1) new cell that will die again in the next generation, b2) new cell that will stay in the next gen) [maybe: c) cell that existed before, but will die in the next gen.]
    5. Currently, if I make the area bigge, the new part is randomly filled. This is sometimes the right thing, but sometimes very wrong. Maybe optional? Hm, seems to need a config page.

Either way – many thanks and have a wonderful week,

    Bella
